I have been interested in art since I was very young. I remember going through my father's Popular Scence magazines, intently interested in the advertisements for "How to do beautiful writing." I never sent for any of such advertisements but I tried many times to copy and produce "beautiful script" with all those curly thin and thick lines and swirls. But, alas, my small hands had very little talent toward that end. In a way I discouraged myself to the point that I never did much drawing or painting as a child, although the few times I did do something others told me that I had some talent. As I grew up, however, my interests turned to sports and sleeping in hight school classes. After graduating from high school I joined the Navy. It was during my term in the service that I met an artist aboard my ship who introduced me to abstract paintings. I was so surprised by the colors and compositionss that I decided to go to college after serving my term in the Navy. I attended Ball State Universityh in Muncie, Indiana and received my B.A. in Education. I then taught art in Fort Wayne, Indiana, eventually having experience with all twelve grade levels and some adult classes. After taking early retirement I toured the art fairs and festivals in the Midwest for ten years selling my paintings. I now live and work in Phoenix, Arizona, painting, working in photography, calligraphy and assemblage/collage. I have published three books:

Openings: Pictures in Passing
Two Dozen Donuts: Thoughts on Zen Circles
Poems in the Sand: The Nature of Things

Ok. So I'm no Picasso. That's why I named my site Peacasso.com. But, then, after reading Picasso's Confession, who cares ?

Anyhow, I like to do almost anything. I work in Oil Pastel, Pencil, Collage, Flash, Photography and Photoshop. . .just about any other medium I can find in which to create. This I hope will save my soul. . . unlike playing in an adult ice hockey league which will surely not save my body.

But so what ? I once heard that we can live as though death is inevitable, or that we can live as though death is not inevitable.

What do you think ?
